Kausar, Pakistan: 6,720 hp (5,010 kW) Compressor Station

Kausar, Southeast Pakistan

Kausar, Southeast Pakistan

Background

To counter declining oil production, the customer needed a flexible compression solution to reduce wellhead pressure and boost production. Valerus was asked to design and install the compression equipment.

Challenge

Operating conditions at the Kausar facility required a flexible compression solution to bring down the wellhead pressure. Compressed gas was sent into the customer’s main gathering distribution pipeline, to be used for fuel gas at power stations within Pakistan.

Advantage

Valerus compression units started off in a single-stage application with a very high suction pressure. This operating mode pulled the well pressure down until the flex package could convert first to a two-stage application, then eventually to a three-stage application. By reducing the wellhead gas pressure from 400 psi to 75 psi, the customer increased their oil production by several hundred barrels per day.
