Separation
The primary function of a wellhead oil and gas production facility is separation of the wellstream into discrete natural gas, crude oil, water and solid streams. Valerus offers a range of separation equipment to serve these needs.
- Two-phase and three-phase production separators: The backbone of the production facility is the separation train, which normally consists of a series of gravity separators operating at progressively lower pressure. Valerus offers a wide range of separator vessels including two or three phase, vertical or horizontal orientations, and high or low operating pressure designs.
- Heated and enclosed designs: Cold climates present difficult operating conditions for separators, and Valerus offers housed, enclosed, heated and insulated designs for peak performance regardless of the ambient temperature.
- Free water knockouts (FWKOs): Specialized separators are used to remove large amounts of free water from crude oil prior to crude dehydration.
- Sand separators: Modern drilling and completion techniques often result in large amounts of solid particles being produced along with the oil and gas. These solids may be sand and silt from the formation, or proppants used in the hydro-fracturing process. Valerus provides high-pressure wellhead sand separators to protect the production facility from damage by produced solids.
