Gas & Liquid Heating & Cooling

Production processing of crude oil and natural gas often requires the addition or removal of heat from the product stream. Heating can reduce or eliminate formation of ice and hydrates that can plug production systems. Heating crude oil speeds the process of removing water, solids and volatile vapors from the crude. Production often must be cooled before transportation or storage to reduce volatility or to meet pipeline specifications.

Valerus offers a range of equipment for raising or lowering the temperature of oil and natural gas production.

  • Ambient (convection) coolers: Valerus offers passive cooling systems that use convection to move air across the process cooler. These systems are the ultimate in simplicity and often provide all the cooling required.
  • Engine-driven coolers: Some processes require forced-air cooling. For these cases, Valerus uses fans driven by electric motors or natural gas engines to enhance cooling.
  • Indirect line heaters: Valerus offers natural-gas-fired water or glycol bath process heaters to heat gas production and avoid hydrate formation at the wellhead choke. Indirect heaters can also be used to heat liquid production for enhanced processing.
